If you don’t love Oklahoma City NBA basketball star Kevin Durant, you probably don’t know much about him.

If you’ve seen him play, you likely admire his stunning mix of grace, precision and intensity. On the basketball court, Durant is truly a marvel to behold.

After posting one of the best statistical seasons in NBA history, Durant was named league Most Valuable Player. He accepted the award with the same magnificence in which he plays the game.

Here are a few highlights of Durant’s speech:

“When something good happens to you, I don’t know about you guys, but I tend to look back at what brought me here.”

“I failed so many times and got back up.”

“Basketball is a platform for me to inspire.”

“(Russel Westbook is) an emotional guy who will run through a wall for me, and I don’t take it for granted. . . I love you.”

“And mom. . . the odds were stacked against us; single parent with two boys by the time you were 21-years-old. You made us believe; you kept us off the street. You sacrificed for us. You’re the real MVP.”
