It’s no secret that I believe Twitter is the best educational tool available. And, now, Twitter is even better, since its profile/landing page upgrade.

Not only does Twitter provide an amazing professional development platform for teachers, it gives all students, even those who are shy and reluctant to participate in class, a voice. The Twitter profile upgrades empower users to create a much more personalized look, making it easy for students to build their own landing pages.

Although Twitter is a very easy sell to students, because of its interactivity, the upgraded profile engages students like never before. Now, every student can use Twitter to create a Twitter website that looks different from everyone else’s, complete with a personalized high-resolution banner, easy-to-change profile image and pictures that demonstrate individual style and creativity. The new pinned Tweet feature is a nifty way for students to curate content, sharing with peers and the world what they believe is really important.

If you’re not using Twitter to engage your students, it’s time to give it a try. They will love it, and they’ll interact with each other and with you in remarkable ways that will lead to amazing 21st-century learning.
