Welcome to the first edition of Brilliant or Insane’s Wednesday Web Round-Up: a weekly segment where we bring you the most brilliant — and the most insane — story, photo, and video circulating around the web.
A-ca-scuse Me? “Pitch Perfect 2” is ON
The a-ca-crazy continues in Universal’s sequel to their 2012 smash hit, “Pitch Perfect,” in the much-anticipated sequel “Pitch Perfect 2.” Written by original screenwriter Kay Cannon and directed by actress Elizabeth Banks (co-star in the first film), the sequel is rumored to follow Kendrick and Wilson’s characters senior year of college–three years following the first film’s narrative of their freshman year.
But First, Let Me Take a Selfie
The phenomenon of Selfies, or self-taken photos of (you guessed it) oneself, has taken over the world of social media. It started with just awkward photos of girls in bathroom mirrors and turned into a dynamic quest for self-actualization…said no one, ever. This selfie is brilliant self-reflexive, in that it provides a commentary within the selfie that everyone is thinking: You’re an idiot for taking this photo, and you deserve to have a camel eat your face.
Forever Man’s Best Friend
This heart-wrenching video depicts a woman’s Alzheimer’s-ridden father and his miraculous interaction with their family dog. The man has lost his ability to speak in full sentences due to the late stages of Alzheimer’s, but when the dog approaches him, something amazing happens. As someone who has seen firsthand the destruction of this terrible disease, I highly recommend having tissues handy…
Ben Affleck Counting Cards?
The world’s next Batman, Ben Affleck, was banned from playing Blackjack at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel & Casino last week. While Hard Rock confirms Affleck is still a valued guest, he is no longer allowed at the Blackjack tables because he is, “too good at the game,” according to a story by “The Independent.” So, his best friend is Matt Damon AND he’s too good at Blackjack? Come on, universe. Let’s distribute the wealth a bit, shall we?
Gimme that Russian Man Meat
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Russia? This photo is taken from a Russian dating website, and if it doesn’t satisfy your need for Mother Russia, check out On The News’ entire gallery. You don’t want to miss the bananas, the hats, and the oh-so seductive eyes luring you in from underneath greasy bangs. Trust me, there’s plenty more where this hunk o’ Russian man meat comes from.
When you think of homages to the great boy band, the Beastie Boys, Buddhist Monks might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But after watching this video, you may think differently. New York Celebrated its third annual MCA Day, a holiday in honor of Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, who lost his battle to cancer on May 4, 2012. The enlightened Beastie Boy shared more than just his zen mantra with the monks…it seems he also shared the skills of DANCE.
