We’re back with our second edition of Brilliant or Insane’s Wednesday Web Round-Up: a weekly segment where we bring you the most brilliant — and the most insane — story, photo, and video circulating around the web.
Bionic Arms Are A Real Thing Now
After over eight years of research and an early inspiration from “Star Wars,” the FDA has approved DEKA Integrated Solutions to market and sell their bionic arm in the United States. The bionic limb is projected to revolutionize post-amputation life for individuals who lose their limb. Maybe if Luke Skywalker had had the DEKA arm, the world would like him more than Han Solo…but probably not.
Ever wondered which countries have the most metal bands per capita? Or where the world’s biggest penises are? No, I haven’t wondered these things either. But thanks to this wonderful map collection provided by Tapiture, you can now learn where the most cigarettes are smoked, the average breast cup size in each country, and, most importantly, how many beers minimum wage will get you in Europe.
John Oliver’s Climate Change Debate
The ongoing Climate Change debate rages on as if the scientific minds of the universe are still split 50-50, when in truth research shows that 97% of the science community believe in Climate Change. In his show, “Last Week Tonight,” John Oliver has an accurately representative debate: 3 scientists that think Climate Change is a hoax, and 97 scientists (including Bill Nye) that think Climate Change is real.
Alec Baldwin in Handcuffs
Celebrities are always astounding us with their insanity, and this week’s top insane story goes to Alec Baldwin. The “30 Rock” alum was arrested in Manhattan yesterday for a traffic offense and disorderly conduct. The disorderly conduct sounds about right, considering Baldwin’s temper, but what exactly was the traffic offense? Riding a bicycle the wrong way on a busy street, of course. Sounds like a crime to me.
Babies and Facial Hair
I am so bored of looking at pictures of people’s babies. It seems like my entire Facebook News Feed is nothing but baby photos, and guess what? They all look the same. But listen up, friends: If you want me to pay attention to your babies, do what these people do and make your babies hilarious. All you need is a sharpie.
99 Problems and a crazy woman, or check that, 100 Problems
The MET Gala’s evening of class came to a crashing halt when an elevator rampage broke out between rapper Jay-Z and his sister-in-law, Solange Knowles. TMZ released the security footage, showing Solange attacking Jay-Z while her sister, Beyonce, tries desperately to calm the outburst….but not after Solange gets in a few good hits…
