Have you heard the phrase, Assessment 3.0? This infographic explains what Assessment 3.0 is and how it can change teaching and learning forever.

In my book, Assessment 3.0: Throw Out Your Grade Book and Inspire Learning (Corwin, 2015), I suggest the following.

There are strategies for providing meaningful narrative feedback, for using technology for assessment, for creating significant conversations about achievement and, perhaps most important, for teaching students to be self-evaluative, independent learners. Mark Barnes, Assessment 3.0 (Corwin, 2015)

The most important strategy, which can be used in a face-to-face conversation with students or provided with a digital platform, is SE2R, demonstrated in the infographic and in more detail here.

Assessment 3.0, which in its most basic form can be described as a conversation bout learning that replaces traditional grades, is more than a simple way to assess learning. It’s a movement that will revolutionize the way learning is assessed.
