In an effort to help teachers create a Twitter PLN that will power up their teaching, we want to help them find superstars in education. People often ask, “How do I find the best people on Twitter?”

While there are an array of strategies to build an effective Twitter PLN, new methods for finding the best tweeple (people on Twitter) are always cropping up. After some long contemplation and discussion, Brilliant or Insane recently came up with a new plan to bring superstar educators to your Twitter PLN.

The #BestEdTweeps hashtag

There is a longstanding Twitter hashtag #FF, which means Friday Follow. This Twitter feed is one place to locate good people on Twitter, but what if you don’t want to wait until Friday to build your Twitter PLN?

This is why Brilliant or Insane launched the #BestEdTweeps hashtag, along with a simple plan to quickly bring superstars to your Twitter PLN. (If you’re new to Twitter and aren’t sure how hashtags work, check out the video at the bottom of this post.)

A simple plan

  1. Go to the hashtag #BestEdTweeps (Best Education People).
  2. See who is tweeting to the #BestEdTweeps feed.
  3. Click these twitter handles and read a few profiles. Follow all education “Tweeps” who fit your needs.
  4. Pay it forward: Send a tweet to the #BestEdTweeps hashtag, recommending one or two superstar educators for others visiting the feed to add to their Twitter PLN (see pic below).
  5. Tweet to the #BestEdTweeps hashtag daily, and it will grow into Twitter’s best-known place to find education superstars.

When people visit the #BestEdTweeps feed, they’ll find you and add you to their Twitter PLN, and soon, you’ll be a superstar, too.

We all need amazing people in our Twitter PLN. So, hurry to the #BestEdTweeps hashtag and find your next superstar.
